Legends SC came away with a dramatic 3-3 draw against second-place Union Sacramento on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in a match that had major implications for the standings.
Legends got off to a strong start and looked in full control through the first half. They were sharp in attack, organized defensively, and carried a 2-0 lead into halftime. With a win, Legends would have moved into second place in the standings, making the second half even more important.
After the break, however, the momentum shifted. Legends took their foot off the gas, and Union Sacramento capitalized. The visitors scored three straight goals in the second half to turn the match around and suddenly put Legends in a difficult position.
To their credit, Legends did not give up. Needing a response late in the game, they found an equalizer to salvage a point and close out the match with a 3-3 final score. While it was not the result Legends had hoped for after leading by two goals at halftime, the team showed character by fighting back to avoid defeat.
The draw keeps Legends SC in third place in the standings. A victory would have lifted them into second, but now they will need help in addition to taking care of business in their final match of the season.
Next up is the last game of the season against Lincoln SC on May 9. A win could still give Legends a chance to finish in second place, but only if Union Sacramento and Elk Grove, the two teams ahead of them, either lose or settle for draws in their remaining matches.
Legends now head into the final week of the season knowing there is still plenty to play for.
