This past weekend, June 27-28, the Legends 2017 boys team competed in the Independence Cup at Cherry Island, a field that feels like home for the team because they regularly practice there.

That familiarity showed early and helped the group stay composed throughout a challenging tournament schedule. In four games, Legends finished with two wins and two losses, earning 3rd place out of 5 teams in their first-ever Independence Cup appearance.

Legends opened the tournament against Sacramento Alliance and fell 4-0. Instead of letting that result define their weekend, the boys responded with energy and focus, beating Folsom Lake Surf 3-1 in their second match.

On day two, they carried that momentum into a thrilling 4-3 win over American River Revolution. In their final game, Legends faced a very strong Albion side that traveled from Merced, CA, and lost 10-0.

Even with a tough final result, this was a positive tournament for Legends 2017: two quality wins, important experience, and a podium finish in their debut at the Independence Cup. The team showed resilience, character, and the ability to bounce back, all signs of a group moving in the right direction.
